MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of Bully Busters, Anti-Bullying Campaign, is to eradicate bullying through knowledge, communication, involvement, empowerment and support. Through the joint efforts of students, teachers and parents we can raise awareness of the problem of bullying and facilitate a safe, respectful, and healthy learning environment for all students.  Our goal is for every school to adopt a “zero tolerance” policy in regards to bullying behaviors. We strive to facilitate social change.  YOU can help make a difference.

How do you define bullying?

Bullying is when one person is repeatedly abusive to another person. The intent of the bully is to create an imbalance of power through aggressive/bullying behaviors (US Department of Health and Human Services: Health Resources and Services Administration).  Bullying occurs in elementary school, middle school and high school. Bullying behaviors seem to peak during the middle school years. Bullying is when one person or a group of people does something to another person or group to hurt, embarrass, or just to make them feel bad.  According to the US Department of Health and Human Services: Health Resources and Services Administration, approximately 30% of youth in grades six through 10 have either been bullied or have bullied other children.  Bullying is not a normal childhood behavior; it is not a normal part of growing up.  No one deserves to be bullied.  Bullying behavior is abusive and is not to be tolerated.
